Cornerstone Research, drawing from a variety of sources relating to settlements in parallel securities derivative actions from 2019 through mid-2026, has some statistical information on the fee awards in these settlements in federal cases (specifically 301 securities class actions). Here are the takeaways: (1) the median plaintiff attorney’s fee award associated with derivative settlements in the sampling was $1 million; (2) the median fee award for cases with a monetary settlement was $3.1 million; (3) the median fee award for those without a monetary settlement was 74% less or $806,000; and (4) the total fee payouts in these cases totaled $10 million.
