District Judge Selna Does Not Find Chad Farnan’s Lawsuit to be Baseless or Vexatious in Nature.
On November 11, 2009, we reported that U.S. District Judge James Selna had issued a tentative ruling to deny an award of attorney’s fees to the defense teams for San Juan Capistrano high school teacher James Corbett in the long-running First Amendment case brought on behalf of Chad Farnan (referred to as C.F. in the litigation). The defense team had sought $391,150 in fees and court-related costs. District Judge Selna sustained his tentative in a December 14, 2009 decision and also overturned an October 2009 decision by the federal court clerk in the case to assess costs of $12,631 against plaintiff.
