In the News …. UCI Law School Dean Chemerinsky Will Work On Appeal in Farnan-Corbett Dispute

In our October 25, 2009 post, we reported on the award of routine costs in favor of the school district and teachers’ union in the Farnan-Corbett lawsuit. An early November 2009 fees motion is still pending with respect to these two entities.

As reported in The Orange County Register (see Scott Martindale’s story “UCI law dean to work on history teacher’s appeal”), the group representing Mr. Farnan and Mr. Corbett (the teacher) apparently have appealed to the Ninth Circuit in this ongoing dispute. What makes the appeals even more special is that Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of UC Irvine’s School of Law, will be representing Mr. Corbett on appeal. Not only will we cover the fees hearing result, but also will let you know what happens on appeal down the line.

BLOG UNDERVIEW—Co-contributors Marc and Mike, together with Dr. Lucy Keele (the previous well-known debate coach at Cal. State Fullerton and a litigation consultant), attended a Costa Mesa-based Center Club question-and-answer session with Mr. Chemerinsky.  UCI’s law school is already a very dynamic in a short period of time in Orange County.
