Terris/County of Santa Barbara.
As reported in a December 1, 2010 post on the website version of The Santa Barbara Independent, Shawn Terris, a former Santa Barbara County employee, lost her wrongful termination lawsuit against the County and retired CEO Mike Brown. Now, Ms. Terris has been ordered to pay $33,325 to the County for its outside defense counsel help in the lawsuit, although the fees requested by County’s in-house counsel were not awarded.
Jen/San Francisco Battle.
San Francisco’s long-running case against permit expediter Jimmy Jen, who allegedly violated city building codes in expanding his residence in Visitacion Valley, has ended with a $486,000 payment from his bankruptcy estate. This amount was 40% of the $1.2 million award in the case, which apparently consisted of a damages award of $850,000 and the remainder in an attorney’s fees award. So reports Bob Egelko in a December 1, 2010 post on the website version of The San Francisco Chronicle (available for reading at the SFGate site).
