$1.5 Million in Fees Is the Settlement Payout Number to Plaintiff’s Counsel.
We have reported on this before, but an April 3, 2012 post on The Blog of Legal Times informs us that Plaintiff’s counsel has reached a settlement in a landmark D.C. gun case that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. A trial judge awarded counsel $1.17 million, although the attorneys had asked for more than $3 million. Negotiations started after counsel appealed the fee award to the D.C. Circuit, with the parties reaching a compromise–$1.5 million in fees to counsel.
Local Las Vegas Criminal Attorney Sues Florida Lead Counsel For Unpaid Compensation in O.J. Simpson Nevada Criminal Case.
Remember O.J. Simpson’s Nevada criminal trial resulting in a conviction? Sure you do; now the fee aftermath is reported in The Washington Post. Las Vegas attorney Gabriel (Gabe) Grasso, who was local counsel to Mr. Simpson, has now sued lead criminal attorney Yale Galanter (of Florida), claiming that he was only paid $15,000 out of $250,000 in promised fees. Mr. Galanter has been quoted as saying he will fight and that Mr. Grasso was paid everything he was supposed to get. Stay tuned on how this one will pan out.
