Developer Thinks Enough Is Enough.
As reported by Brittany Levine in the April 25, 2010 edition of The Orange County Register, San Clemente has spent about $490,000 in attorney’s fees fighting a zoning battle over a parcel owned by the Avenida San Juan Partnership on East Avenida San Juan in San Clemente.
Last week, the City appealed an Orange County Superior Court judge’s decision awarding the partnership developer $1.3 million in damages because the City limited the value of the property as a result of a zoning change.
One of the partnership’s principals, Tom O’Keefe, thinks it is high time the City stop fighting. He is quoted as saying, “I don’t think it’s in anybody’s best interest to continue this fight.” Well, I guess we will see if his words are heeded.
