In The News . . . . Shuttered Massage Parlor Is Appealing $602,000 In Fees, Costs, and Penalties Under Red Light Abatement Act

Orange County Superior Court Awards Are Being Appealed to Fourth District, Division 3.

As reported by Erika I. Ritchie in an article in the February 2, 2011 edition of The Orange County Register, Lake Forest BodyCentre–a massage parlor shut down by the City of Lake Forest–was hit with certain adverse awards in favor of the City by Orange County Superior Court Judge David Chaffee on July 21, 2010. Specifically, Lake Forest BodyCentre was ordered to pay $456,962 in attorney’s fees, $45,000 in court costs, and $100,000 in statutory penalties under California’s Red Light Abatement Act, for a final tally nearing $602,000. Lake Forest BodyCentre is appealing these awards to the Fourth District, Division 3, despite losing several other appeals on various rulings.

The article also notes that Lake Forest BodyCentre should not be confused with BodyCentre Costa Mesa LLC, which owns and operates BodyCentre Day Spa located in The Orchard shopping center off of El Toro Road.
