In The News . . . . The American Lawyer’s Top 100 Firms Saw Gross Revenue And Profits-Per-Partner Measure Rise In 2010

Bounce Back from 2009 Declines.

In an April 28, 2011 press release in the on-line version of The American Lawyer, its Am Law Top 100 firms were reported to collectively see a 4% rise is general revenue and profits-per-partner growth of 8.4% in 2010, reversing declines for 2009.

Quinn Emanuel and Alston & Bird were among the leaders in these categories. Falling average “attorney head count” had its biggest drop in 25 years, which probably contributed to the reported increases.

Who were the leaders in sheer size of revenues? Baker & McKenzie, closely followed by Skadden, with DLA Piper, Latham & Watkins, and Hogan Lovells rounding out the top five. Seventeen firms produced revenues of at least $1 billion.

Overall, about 60% of The Am Law 100 firms increased revenues in 2010.
