In The News . . . . Legal Outsourcing Company Entitled To Full Fee Recovery Under Arrangement Under Unocal

D.C. Court of Appeals Affirms Lower Court $6.9 Million Judgment in Favor of Legal Outsourcing Company.

As reported by Zoe Tillman in a September 5, 2012 post at Current Affairs, litigation outsourcing company eLawForum Corp. (now called Drystone Capital Corp.) recently had a $6.9 million judgment it obtained against Unocal Corp. for breach of a fee outsourcing agreement involving the now defunct Howrey firm sustained on appeal. Unocal claimed that it only owed $3.1 million (attempting to actually disgorge fees from the $4.6 million already paid by Unocal under the outsourcing agreement). Both the lower court and District of Columbia Court of Appeals found the governing agreement unambiguous, bad news for Unocal on appeal but good news for eLawForum.
