Southern California Edison apparently commenced an International Chamber of Commerce arbitration to see if could exceed a contractual cap of $125 million in its agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for purposes of recovering compensation for steam generator failures at the San Onofre nuclear plant. However, SCE was not successful such that it will have to reimburse Mitsubishi for $58 million in legal expenses, netting about $52 million. More details of this development can be found in Teri Sforza’s on-line article, “Mitsubishi won’t pay big for San Onofre failure,” published March 14, 2017 in the “LOCAL” section of The Orange County Register.
